Laa'ilaah! De la profession de foi au marqueur de discours moral en fulfulde : une pragmaticalisation qui ebranle les categories linguistiques

en This paper examines how a borrowed word that is pragmaticalized and functions as an interjection in the host language relates to other interjections and their categorizations.The main hypothesis suggests that most linguistic categorizations are narrow because they do not emanate from a dialogue between the facts of language and its use in context. The analysis is therefore carried out through the lenses of the theoretical framework of pragmalinguistics. The methodological approach is empirical-inductive and qualitative. The objective being to show how certain linguistic categorizations are inefficient, this case study analyses the occurrences of laa'ilaahin various interactions in Fulfulde so thaton the one hand it can highlight its linguistic and discursive properties and on the other hand, it can consider critically both the internal classification of interjections and the relationships they maintain with other categories such as speech markers, pragmatemes and stereotypical speech acts.It emerges that the Islamic profession of faith formula arises in Fulfulde discourses as a marker of moral judgment whose properties challenge the definitional and classificatory criteria of similar language units. Thus, while contributing to the advancement of knowledge on interjections, the study shows that a good categorization combines linguistic and discursive phenomena.

fr Cette contribution examine comment un emprunt pragmaticalisé dans la langue d’accueil sous une forme interjective se situe par rapport aux autres interjections et leurs catégorisations dans la littérature. L’hypothèse privilégiée avance que la plupart des catégories linguistiques sont étriquées car n’émanant pas d’un dialogue entre les faits de langue et de parole. Aussi les analyses sont-elles menées selon les principes théorico-méthodologiques de la pragmalinguistique. La démarche est empirico-inductive et de type qualitatif. L’objectif étant de montrer en quoi certaines catégorisations linguistiques sont inefficientes, cette étude de cas qu’est laa’ilaah analyse ses occurrencesdans diverses interactions en fulfulde. Elle met d’abord en évidence ses propriétés linguistiques et discursives. Ensuite,à la lumière de celles-ci, elle considère de manière critique autant la classification interne des interjections que les liens flous qu’elles entretiennent avec d’autres catégories telles que les marqueurs de discours, les pragmatèmes et les actes de langage stéréotypés. Il ressort du travail que ce qui était la formule de profession de foi islamique se pose dans les discours fuls comme un marqueur d’évaluation morale dont les propriétés défient les critères définitionnels et classificatoires des unités langagières similaires. Ainsi, tout en contribuant à faire avancer les connaissances sur les interjections, l’étude montre qu’une bonne catégorisation conjugue les phénomènes linguistiques et discursifs.
